Interesting turn this chapter. Sewing those seeds of doubt. Wonder what she was thinking about at that moment there. Maybe both points... And Spike getting off on her imagined pain, but doing nothing. Wonder whats going through his head. Great chapter.

Your Spike is the way I would envision him at the peak of his powers - strong, self confident, clever, driven to succeed and dominating; manipulative and willing to do what it takes to get what he wants. He's also quite confused by his impulses regarding the Slayer. I find it interesting that in all of this his caretaking instincts continue to kick in at the most surprising times. He also demonstrates the advantages of his greater age and experience - something we never fully saw in the show. Your Spike is intriguing and I'm really glad you are writing this. Looking forward to more!

OMG! I just love this fic! I love how it seemed like Spike was going to apologize for what he did, using chocolate frogurt as his peace offering for hurting her. Instead, he uses his beating her up to his own advantage, to get her to question why she bothers to save people who don't even acknowledge what she does, or care about her, or about anyone, but themselves. Then you have Buffy questioning whether or not she even wants to live! This Buffy is so confused, so completely lonely and so used to following orders that you have her almost falling into submission with Spike. And then there is Spike...So evil but yet still so caring. Even when he's toying with her mind he's still considerate enough to give her some money to get some food, still carries her up to bed in his arms when she falls asleep. He can't even act on his own evil desires, turning them into fantasies instead to get himself off. Some might call the last part of the chapter perverse, but I think its a perfect, even if dark, way to show the change in Spike and the feelings he's growing for Buffy.
