Maybe the slap did help; Spike is used to Buffy reaction this way ;-)
But at last Spike is believing Buffy, that's very good.
hoped that being reunited with Buffy would be the turning point that he needed. Me too :)
And it turned out well, Buffy has a reason now to stay 24/7 at Spike's (not that she wouldn't have done it anyway)

I love the line about Spike considering Buffy hitting him normal behavior.
You touched on a lot this chapter – with Spike feeling remorse over his suicide attempt including guilt knowing that Buffy would be the one to find him. Also, Buffy’s realization that Spike knew she was visiting him at night and he still went through with his suicide attempt.
