Great chapter! It seems like S and B are heading in the right direction now, being more friendly with each other and so. To me, B seems to be a natural as leader, but I'm glad she is opening up to S. Good work.

Ok, I don't normally review every chapter, in fact, I only just reviewed the last one and none other of this fic (though that is no reflection on your story, this is my favorite WIP) but that was a really, really good chapter. The shortness of it doesn't even matter, because the intimacy between them is growing and their bond is strengthening and I just love the way you write this! I can't wait for another update!

I've been reading (and enjoying - so much!) for a while so I thought the least I could do was de-lurk and tell you how captivated I am by your story. The Buffy-Spike characterizations are so convincing, as is the way they interact with each other. I totally accept that Buffy and Spike could have started out on this footing and I love the fact that they are portrayed as equals despite Buffy's youth and inexperience as a Slayer. I'm also thrilled that you're taking time to carefully develop their relationship rather than just giving us the instant satisfaction of perfect sex and declarations of love that most fic would have provided us with by now. This is far grittier, more compelling and I can't wait to see you where you take it from here. Thanks for posting!

And yes, things are going slowly. Well, somewhat slowly. Buffy and Spike have already had sex, that, if not perfect, was close enough. And now that we have the UST out of the way, we can work on their emotional tension. Though the blood and biting arrangement will certainly increase their physical closeness. As for declarations of love, those are coming, but rather a looooong way down the road, since there's some other issues they have to work out first. I hope you keep enjoying! Thanks for reviewing!

Absolutely LOVED it! (see? I told you I'm running out of things to say!)
The biting was hot and tender and I loved that Buffy trusts him and that she asked him to stay a little longer... and don't even get me started with awww-ing about how he doesn't even wanna hear about her dying or that it could be his doing!

He is in so much denial about his love for her. What's it going to take for him to see it? Perhaps his vamp family or something.
And Buffy seems to be giving up so close to the beginning of the race. I thought she wanted to be the best? She having doubts that it could happen?
