Loved Spike's POV, him telling how he felt getting nearer to Buffy and her becoming the Slayer then.
I hoped (when reading about Buffy's feelings) she would be able to tell Spike. In a way he did. Heartbreaking when he said he still would (want to) kill in the future.
I really hope they can make it work (that they can be together).

This story is so beautiful! I absolutely love the way you are developing the relationship between these two. It struck me reading the last few lines of dialogue, that Spike's desire to kill, his awareness that he will eventually do so again and has wanted to even as recently as the night before, could be read as a metaphor for the desire we all have for others, no matter how passionate a relationship is in the beginning or however much we love someone after that. The dilemma here on one level seems to be the impossibility of reconciling passion and love because, over time, the former will inevitably fade and we can't stop ourselves being attracted to others - the lure of their blood as it is expressed here. This is so carefully crafted and thought-provoking. I'm enjoying it immensely.

But so if Spike does give up killing, does that mean that he's is totally devoted to Buffy? Because I don't see him giving it up unless he wanted her more than he wanted anything else. That's lovely. I love your Soulless!Spike - unapologetic and brutally honest yet still loving, in his own way as confused as Buffy is by their powerful emotional connection. Also, this story has some of the sexiest, sweetest biting scenes I've read in, oh, maybe ever.

I haven't reviewed before, shame on me, but I am hanging on your every word. I go back and reread Chapter 44 every time you update... how you write the intimacy of the biting is just so compelling. This scene is even more satisfying. Mmmm.
The way Buffy reacts to Spike's killing, the way she resents his affection for her Slayer blood, the whole "it's still the same" exchange really gets at one of the things that sets this fic apart... your Buffy is still so connected to her humanity. It's cool to see a mature Buffy deal with being called. And if angsty bedroom chats with Spike help her work through it, I won't complain.

Wow. That was a great, very intense chapter. Heartbreakingly beautiful. Spikes revelation the moment he realized that for probably the first time, somebody stopped being afraid when he showed up, instead felt safe, trusted him... "Somethin’ not to hurt. Somethin’ to hold. Somethin’ precious to keep.” What a revelation for a killer. And that's what he is, and I think you bring out the conflict of that really amazingly. Yes, he WANTS to kill, he's a vampire, you can't just go 'Oh, hell, I'll drink pigs blood instead.' If you'd ever be able to go against your nature it would be a long, difficult process. Like it was for Spike in BtVS. I love how you write him, total honest about it. He doesn't understand it - not yet? And Buffy... falling in love anyway!? Holy f***ing shit! That's what tragic lovestorys are made of. So take your time to let the characters develope - even so I CAN'T wait to see how it's going on!!

Yes, Spike is still very much a vampire who wants to kill. He can't just stop like that because Buffy wants him to. (In fact, I've got a very twisted conversation about love and what it means in a future chapter.) He's falling for Buffy, but that doesn't mean he just stops being what he is. And yes, Buffy knows exactly what he is, and she never meant to get this involved again, but it's happened. And now they both have to deal with it. Depressing chapter, but I love how you did it, that you made their issues bigger than them and something that is not going to be eaisly resolvable. Much as I love the Spuffy some authors make it too easy to be together and to many authors just agree that Spike could give up the killing without a problem.

I was nervous about this chapter at first, because the killing thing hasn't been brought up for a while, and I was worried people would want it all to be easy. You have honestly got to be the most fantastically brilliant author here on this site. No joke. No chapter is boring, it's not all just a smut-fest, and the Spike characterization is AMAZING. He doesn't turn into a pansy because of Buffy, and he's honest about how he feels. eg. he still thinks about killing. He can't just stop doing it forever just because Buffy wants him to. Your writing matures with every chapter (I can see a difference from the first couple chapters and the last couple chapters.)

Yes, Spike is falling (or has fallen for) Buffy, but he can't just stop being what he is because she wants him to. And thank you for the compliments on my writing! Looking back, I think I could have started this story out better (a longer first chapter and a bigger hook). But also looking back, it was a happy, fluffy time with not much conflict, which was the point of allowing Spike to meet Buffy before she was the Slayer. At any rate, I went back not that long ago and fixed some grammatical and structural things in the earlier chapters, so I feel better about them in that regard. Thank you for reviewing!

Wow. It just keeps getting hotter and hotter each time. The biting scenes have been amazing. Lots of sensuality and tension without being blatantly sexual. I just caught up with the story and I am absolutely loving it. The plot is great; very original. You have captured their voices perfectly. I do love a Spike who unapologetically loves being a vamp. But with that sensitive, vulnerable side that peeks out now and then. You are also doing a great job weaving in the other characters in ways that are new and yet fit with canon.
Can't wait for more.
