Wow, Spike really found a way to get back to Angelus. That has hit him hard. But it will make him fight (hunt) Spike and Buffy harder. And I hope that Angelus can't understand Dru's riddles or Spike's Gem is in danger too.

Awesome. Dru's last comment is interesting. Wonder of Buffy's blood is having other side effects on Spike's vampiric biology.
It's a curse, and feel free to call me out for nitpicking, but why would Spike throw away the umbrella? Spike & Darla were only blocks from the mansion, and they left in "morning light" with no access to shade other than the umbrella ~ that being the point of course, as far as Darla's fate was concerned. A big black umbrella is a useful item for a vampire - why would Spike toss it only a small way from the mansion, where it might well be found by Angelus or Dru, only to have to run back to shelter under his coat? I know, I know....I focus on the dumbest, most trivial things ~ but like I said, it's my curse.
Really looking forward to the downward spiral this triggers in Angelus.
Author's Response: Spike has the Gem of Amara in this fic, so the umbrella was not so much for him as it was for Darla. This is also what Dru's chanting was referring to. Thanks for reviewing!

Assume there are some more lessons before Spike is finished.. and that he will go see Buffy and try to keep her from trying to fight Angelus.. but.. she is in Slayer mode..

*Evil laugh. *Angelus so got a taste of his own medicine. You mess with Spike's #1 girl, Angelus's #1 girl dies. Poetic justice. I was hoping for a bit of Spike hovering over Buffy and being all sweet in this chapter. I'm guess that will be coming up next. Hopefully by this weekend. *wink wink*

Damn it! My comment didn't seem to post and of course I have a short memory. Basically, I hate cliff hangers not matter how good a cliff hanger this is. I feel for Buffy, she's actually pretty understanding especially considering he's a killer. And I can understand Spike's confusion but he's trying to have it both ways and now it's time for him to choose. I was actually hoping that Buffy can overcome Angelus, as much as I love Spike being the hero, I would like to see her be the hero for once overcome Angelus, show her strength and her improved fighting skills. I don't want her to become the victim.

Not every chapter wants to end with a nice resolution. :) I don't want Buffy to become the victim, either, but now isn't the time for her to defeat Angelus. Well I really wanted to comment on the begin of the chapter, enjoyed it a lot even with the roller coaster of feelings but then I came to the end. *grumble* Cliffhanger. So there is no other post the next day huh?
I really hope it was Spike crying out in the distance and coming to Buffy's help. And that he'll kick Angelus ass for touching what is his.

Author's Response: I wouldn't think she's being idealistic. She has been getting better and is not the Slayer she started out as in LA. There's no reason for her to think that she can't do a patrol alone, as most nights she handles whatever comes just fine, even if Spike was following her. Thanks for reading!
