The training is very entertaining, and Spike is going to get her in tip top shape. I wonder if Giles is going to notice her progress. I loved this line: "Buffy found herself looking at the movies in a new light, as well as in desperate need of her own montage."

Author's Response: Hehe, thank you! I'm glad you liked that line! Buffy will definitely be an amazing fighter by the time Spike is done with her. Thanks for reading!

Buffy's really fitting in with the gang. They're all open and friendly, which I'm a little surprised by. I love the Spike and Buffy banter and Spike getting her to stare into his eyes was hysterically in character.

Author's Response: Fitting Buffy into the Scoobies was one of the most difficult parts of this fic for me. I mean, who moves to a new town and receives two built-in best friends? But that's almost exactly what happened on the show. Everybody was just there, practically waiting for her. Here, they've already been fighting vampires, but they're ready for the new Slayer. Thanks for reviewing!

Excellent explanation of the chain of events that led Angelus and Darla and Dru back to Sunnydale. Your Angelus is delightfully self serving, and I love that he and Dru ambushed Darla, drained her and carted her around for over a decade before coming up with the plan to drain The Master. How humiliating.

This wraps up the mystery of what happened to The Master. He and the Anointed One couldn't have had a more appropriate end. Dead at the hand of one of their own, unable to fulfill the prophecies they were destined for. Nice job.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you liked the history! Angelus is deliciously out for himself, isn't he? And yep, the Master has been gone for some time. The ritual Spike started just kept on going... Thanks for reviewing!

Buffy's a lot older than she was when she met Giles in canon, and she wasn't particularly malleable then. I'm not surprised that she's not eager to whittle her own stakes, but they've only just met and she's already saying no. It's going to be interesting what else she refuses to do.

Angelus' rut of kill a virgin, fuck a virgin, kill a virgin is sick, but Darla's line was funny. It's nice to know Spike's going to kill "the bitch," and I bet Darla's skin crawled at the offhand remark.

Author's Response: What can I say? Angelus is sick. Though I don't think either of them listen to Dru as much as they should And yes, Buffy is much less willing to just blindly follow a Watcher, just like when she got older on the show. Thanks for reviewing!

Spike plotting and planning was nicely drawn, and I enjoyed his musing on Angelus. There's a boat load of hate there, I hope Spike does get to beat the tar out of him.

Author's Response: Thank you! Glad you liked the inner workings of Spike's mind!

Spike being concerned enough to ask what's going through her head brought her worries into focus. It would be completely overwhelming to be handed the keys to a whole new destiny and then just looked upon to save everyone. It's lucky she has Spike to talk to. Somebody who sleeps over. It's like they're girlfriends.

Author's Response: Hehe! Buffy has her very own vampire BFF... :) Buffy did need to have that talk. It helped her realize a few things. Glad you liked it!

Buffy is so open with Spike, it makes trusting him too easy. He may not mean to betray her, but I have a feeling he's going to disappoint her. It makes these quiet moments feel bittersweet.

Author's Response: Hmm... He will disappoint her, but he won't. He would never willingly betray or hurt her, but he can't stop wanting to be what he is.

Buffy's crush is making her ask all the wrong questions, and it's very charming. Pumping Spike up was also cute. I know he's evil, but the he's still awfully cute.

Author's Response: Cute but evil, that's what he is. :) Glad you liked their talk!

The meet and greet went very well, other than the lying by omission about Spike. How is she going to explain him to the gang? Unlike Oz, he's not dangerous just three days a month.

Poor Spike, he's made it his mission to steer clear of his old family. Seeing Dru again is going to burn, and Angelus at full power might hold quite a grudge.

Author's Response: Buffy's plan for Spike is to keep him her dirty secret. But I promise there will be no Spike abuse, like when he was her dirty secret on the show, LOL. Thanks for reviewing!

Oh, crap, indeed.

How did Buffy not know that she would be facing Spike's family. I'd think Wes would be privy to that sort of information. This is going to be quite a complication.

I laughed at Buffy calling Angelus Angelo.

Author's Response: Wesley never told her. The reasons why come up in a later chapter. Thanks for reading!

I enjoyed the detail in moving down to Sunnydale. It was all very mundane and domestic other than Buffy choosing a room with easy tree access and unpacking her weapons. It just shows how not normal her life has become.

The last kill for a while? Oh, Spike, your lack of morals are not going to win you any slayers.

Author's Response: Glad you liked the moving chapter! I tried to make it realistic but not boring, so I put some Slayer thoughts in there. And yes, Spike is getting in one last kill before Sunnydale... Thanks for reviewing!

*nods* if you think that you've lost (did almost loose) someone, you can change your mind about him (how much you need him/her). It's the thought to loose what you have... Willow is right about that.
Willow was truly right... that's what's going through Spike's head. So in the end he has to make a decision.
Hopefully it will be the one that's best for them both.

Author's Response: Yes, Spike just needed a little wake up call to make him start sorting his priorities. He has come to the point of deciding, and he knows it. Thanks for reading!

It seems both Buffy and Spike are doing an excellent job compartmentalizing their relationship. Spike's looking on this as a business arrangement, and Buffy's looking on him as a training tool. It's all neat and tidy. I wonder how long that will last once they're fighting off his family?

I enjoyed the heartfelt goodbyes with Wes, Fred and Cordelia. Buffy's going to be among strangers, other than Spike. That's just going to make their relationship stronger.

Author's Response: Yes, Buffy is saying it's just business, and so is Spike, but of course they're both still feeling something. Sunnydale will see them getting closer... I'm glad you enjoyed the last LA chapter! It's been fun revisiting the older chapters as I've responded to reviews.

Your dialogue is very well written, and the conversations are in character and believable. Spike and Buffy havn't known each other very long, and though there are strong emotions between them, love isn't one of them. There's a feeling of inevitability, though, and it's lovely to read.

I can't wait to read Giles' reaction to Buffy's arrival with Spike in tow. I hope he doesn't immediately suffer a heart attack.

Dru's vision speaks of lots of doom and gloom for the Aurelians. Should be fun.

Author's Response: Thank you for the compliments on the dialogue! I'm always flattered when people think I have the character voices correct. Yes, Buffy and Spike have a connection, even if it isn't love yet. Hmm, Giles won't be finding out about Spike for a bit... Glad you liked the chapter!

The sparring was vividly drawn and very intimate. Spike was at Buffy's neck again and again and again, but there was no sense of imminent danger. You made Buffy going from Point A to Point Z believable. Yeah, Spike's in love with her, but what's she going to do with it?

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it!

This was a vivid, brutal chapter. The random vampire attack was an excellent way to bring up the slayer's longevity. Having Spike on her side would certainly boost Buffy's chances, but he's just as rattled by his emotions as she is. Wes' observation about Spike's struggles may have defined what's going on, but they're a long way from a resolution. I hope they come to some compromise before Buffy gets seriously injured.

Author's Response: Glad you liked the chapter! Yes, Buffy just figured out one or two of the cons of slaying. But neither Spike nor Buffy have figured out exactly where they stand yet. Thanks for reviewing!

Wesley chastising Buffy for the impropriety of letting Spike drink her blood was nice and stuffy, but you also brought up the fact that Spike is dangerous. This isn't just a game, though he's certainly toying with her. She has no idea what's going through his head, though the attraction is still zinging between them.

Sunnydale is looking like a good idea after all. Though there's a whole new cast of characters to deal with. Angelus riding a slayer blood high should be fun. Or really, really creepy.

Author's Response: Yes, Spike is dangerous, and no one really knows what he's thinking right now. From Wesley's point of view, there is every reason to be worried. Buffy just doesn't want to see him again. And I think Angelus at his best is really, really creepy. :)

No, I think horribly intimate was the right phrase.

Sunnydale? Oh, Buffy out of the frying pan and into the fire. The Council's call to Wesley set an ominous tone. They sure were pompous. I can't wait to see who they send to be Buffy's watcher.

The entire scene with Spike was vividly described. He's got her reeling, and now he's tasted her slayer blood. Things are heating up nicely.

Author's Response: Hehe, yes, what's not intimate and Spike and Buffy and blood? And Sunnydale is indeed going to get Buffy in deeper. Thanks for reviewing!

I enjoyed Spike harassing Buffy, staying close and being amusingly annoying. He's also nice and menacing in this story. This is 100% vampire, not a cuddly puppy. It's no wonder he gets under Buffy's skin. Wes' internal comment about his slayers always sleeping with vamps was very interesting.

It already sounds like Buffy's willing to come to a compromise with Spike. He'll probably balk, but so what? She doesn't want to have to fight him, and he doesn't want to kill her, they're at an impasse.

Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, Spike is 100% vampire, nothing Buffy-whipped about him. I like a Spike that's a little dangerous, personally. Buffy and Spike will both have to come to an understanding... Thanks for reviewing!

Buffy's slayer dream was an excellent window in to Faith's "want, take have" life, and it seems Buffy gleaned just the right message. I assumed Richards was from The Council, so him being the loan shark was a surprise and made the manhandling more palatable. I'm surprised Spike let him live.

Author's Response: Well, I figured that Spike thinks an alive, terrified guy is better than another dead one. He's got nothing 'personal' against this one, and if he kills this guy, another one will take his place. Thanks for reviewing!

Poor Spike, he's got it bad. He's already defending the slayer's honor, and she's not even around to give him brownie points.

The slaying was entertaining, and I love that Wes was cautious about Buffy in the beginning. I'm sure she did look like Spike's new vamp sidekick. His defense was stellar: “I don’t know what you’re so upset about,” he said. “It’s not as if I shot first and asked questions later." He scoped out the situation, found a beating heart, and helped. Move on, Buffy.

Author's Response: Spike's new sidekick, LOL. Buffy won't hold it against Wes, though. I'm glad you're liking Wesley, I had a fun time writing him. And Spike definitely has it bad, but he has no idea how to deal with it. Killing things takes the edge off...

I enjoyed this light chapter. Buffy's first day of training was very entertaining. Then, ending on Faith dying, you brought the creepy. That sure sounded like Angelus taunting Faith.

This vivid exchange made me laugh: Wesley handed her a thin, yellow styrofoam cylinder.

Buffy raised an eyebrow. “Is this from a Nerf gun?”

“Yes, well—”

“How do you think I learned to shoot the crossbow?” Excellent point.

Author's Response: Glad you liked Buffy's training day, and the Nerf gun! Angelus will indeed be putting in an appearance... Thanks for reviewing!

What a way to discover you've come into your power. Spike's indifference was certainly put on, but he's probably drinking himself blind to get Buffy out of his head. I'm enjoying your Buffy voice, asking Wes for the Cliff notes version of all the books and agreeing to skim the tomes was funny.

Author's Response: Yes, Spike is having problems coping. He is indeed getting blind drunk... Thank you for the compliments on the Buffy voice!

Buffy's not an idiot, and now that she knows Spike is killing people, there's no way she can reconcile a relationship with him. I like how matter of fact Wesley is. It's just what Buffy needs. This is no case of blind infatuation.

They hardly know one another, but Spike's obviously drawn to her, and now she's in danger again. I guess he's going to be kept busy protecting her from this new threat. It's an excellent read.

Author's Response: Yeah, Buffy is definitely putting distance between herself and Spike. And Wesley is of course also grounding her, he's not going to sugarcoat things. Spike will definitely be sticking around, whether Buffy wants him to or not. Thanks for reading!

Spike's avid biting should have clued Buffy in, but actually watching a murder won't let her live in denial. Their relationship is brand new, but Spike's already a bit obsessed. If she says she never wants to see him again, I'll bet he'll just become better at keeping hidden as he stalks her.

I'm enjoying all the little details in this story: Joyce's drinking and Buffy being aware of prices. Her wanting to work out to get some definition and strength training was also entertaining. That "slayer" thing is still hovering, so training would be welcome for other vampires gunning for her.

Author's Response: Hmm, I think Buffy just sort of figured that the biting was some sort of vampire kink. But yeah, there's no way she can stay in denial or ignorance after seeing what she saw. And I'm glad you like the details here and there. I think details and little things are what make a story real. Thanks for reviewing!
