Poor William and his confusion of being newly risen and mistaking Dru's touches for Elizabeth's and not being clear headed enough to notice all the changes going on in himself and he's just being pulled by his demon now and then feeling absolute disgust with himself with what he is doing in his despair. Please add more when you can it's so good!

Author's Response: Thanks, mselfie. I'm glad you like it. :)

If he thinks he's disgusted now and feeling low wait till he meets Angel. It's always had to read of the changing of William because you have grown to love him and then you love 100 years from now Spike but it's the painful parts of inbetween reading of what made him into the man he was and will be in becoming a creature of the night. Really your doing a great job with this I'm always excited to see when you've added a little bit more to it.

Author's Response: I'm glad you feel that way, Tears of the Moon. And I think you have a wonderful understanding of why I'm writing the story this way. Thank you for reviewing!

Great start for part two, even though I really would've like to see what was going on in Sunnydale with Buffy. But regardless, amazing job. Can't wait to read more! Update again soon please!

Author's Response: Thanks, Missy. I'm glad to hear that although the story took a turn different from the one you expected, you are still able to enjoy it. Thanks for reviewing! :)

His insecurities of not being worthy of Elizabeth and his new found demon are driving him straight to Dru it is such a bad mix for our William here but totally believable in his state of mind and grief. Excellent chapter.

Author's Response: Thanks, Aurorah. I'm flattered you feel that way. :)

I for one, have to say that I am pleased with the direction that your story has taken. As much as I enjoyed your characterization of William (who was, as so many will agree, so sweet), William is not Spike, nor will he be for many years. William was still meek and mild, and could only muster the courage to defend Buffy and not himself. He allowed himself to be ruled by love for Buffy, catering to her whims, and if we know anything about Buffy, Buffy doesn't need a man who will cater to her. She needs someone who will stand up to her and be her honest partner. Our heroine is headstrong and stubborn, and, in all honesty, she needs someone to keep her in check in a way. I see this glimpse into William as Buffy's chance to see beyond the vampire, and to realize that this persona still resides in Spike, and that the mix of caring gentleman and confident (some would say cocky) warrior is her ideal match.

So I applaud your decision to continue down the path you have chosen, and I ask for other readers who turn squeamish at the though of truly "evil" Spike to remember why you first fell in love with Spike yourself. Was it because he was fumbling and caring and polite? No. It first was because he was strong and cunning and snarky (and that he had a hot bod, let's be honest); the other bits that came later only endeared him to us further. Now think about what must have happened to make him that way and you'll find that's what we are being given to the privilege to view through this fic: the transformation. Because while William was sweet, there is no way that he was "sex on legs" or a cunning warrior. And in all honesty, where would the fun be if Spike never developed and we never got to hear he and Buffy throw sarcastic barbs at one another? Their relationship has always been based on the tension between them, and it would be a shame if that was gone.

Sorry for the ridiculously long review, but I am an appreciative fan of this story and happy for the author's ability to create a great work, instead of a just another fluffy fantasy of guilty pleasure (though those always do have a place in my heart as well). ;)

Author's Response: What a wonderful, insightful review, moonchic. I really appreciate your willingness to comment on specific details of the story and offer your own opinions of them. And you're right, William is not Spike, not yet. His metamorphasis into the "Slayer of Slayers" did not come about overnight. I was always intrigued by the scenes in "Lies My Parents Told Me" where William returned to his mother. It was so obvious from those scenes that he was still fundamentally the same person. I was curious to know what changed him, so I decided to write about it. I'm so glad you are enjoying the story, and thank you for reviewing!

Ah-ha! the muse has struck again it musta been the Spike chocolates! This story is just hot I was just giddy to see you come up in the updated section. You r work is becoming a favorite of mine.

Author's Response: Chocolates are definitely of the good, KitKat, and since I'm trying to fit into my sexy jeans again, I'm not eating them, so definitely give them to the Muse. ;) Thanks for reading and reviewing. I'm glad you are enjoying the story so far. :)

I thought your portrayal of Dru was right on the mark in this. Some writers hate trying to write out Dru and tend to over do it on her crazy or only stick to her lines from episodes but I thought you played her well.

Author's Response: Dru had quite a few lucid moments, as I recall. She just had a knack for making herself look like a basket case even when she wasn't behaving like one. For myself, writing Dru is fun, because she has such an unusual take on language and description. And I was always intrigued by the character, anyway. I'm glad you like the way I wrote her, and I hope you continue to enjoy the story in the future. As always, thanks for reviewing. :)

I begin to see why Spike seeks out slayers when your the dead and sentenced to a life forever without the girl you love you would seek out someone who would be the one person to kill you.

Your story is great.!!!
I was a bit disappointed in the beginning , that we weren´t going to see anything about Buffy in part two. But it´s true, you did write that the story would be of a novel length and what it would involve. So even though I´m the impatient kind of person, I understand completely your point of view. And something very important for the ones who hate the relationship between Dru and Spike. The only way he is going to appreciate what he had with Buffy and what he can have with her in the future when he meets her again is to experience what he´s going to go through with Dru, Angelus and Darla. They were the ones who made him "Spike" after all. So please update soon. Can´t wait to see where you´re going to take this fic.

Author's Response: That is exactly how I feel about the Spike/Dru relationship as well, akarinacj. Spike can't become Spike without Drusilla, and, because we *need* this glimpse into his past to understand him in the future, Dru is a necessary evil. I'm glad you liked the chapter. Thanks so much for taking the time to tell me so! :)

Ahhh, the making of Spike... can't say I love it, but it's necessary in order to have him live until Buffy's time. Very graphic, but nicely done. Can't say I am looking forward to the "William meets Angelus" part though...

Author's Response: I'm sorry you aren't enjoying the metamorphosis of William into a vampire, but it really is necessary to the plot. Maybe you'll learn to enjoy it? lol. Anyway, I appreciate your willingness to stick with it. Thanks for the review. :)

I don't have any brilliant insights or anything at this point :), but just wanted to let you know how excited I was that you updated and how I'm really enjoying the story. I know this part is probably hard to read for a lot of people (and maybe for you to write), but it's absolutely essential and it's amazing to see William's journey to becoming Spike. Without this part, we wouldn't be able to really understand all the layers of the future Elizabeth/William reunion.

Author's Response: I'm glad you feel that way, Anne, because that is exactly how I felt when I began writing it. I love William; I don't want him to be unhappy. But to be honest, he can't become Spike unless he goes through this uncomfortable process. And, as you said, we wouldn't be able to really understand him if we weren't there to see the transformation take place. Thanks so much for reviewing!

And right at a moment when no one is there to witness what happens to our girl. How beside themselves everyone should be. Tragic indeed, but not without it's brilliance. I cannot even imagine the aftermath this should bring. And Buffy's little inking as she said she would never leave him... I loved it.

You are doing such a fine job of this. The missing bits to all my imaginings of the story of Buffy and Spike, the way I would like them to be. I am finding it better to read than watch the show as it turns out the same every time but the reading is always different.

interesting...i'm glad that william doesn't really love dru in this...or does he later? Hopefully not. Now that he says he wants to go home...he will soon realize that he can't go back...only forward. It would be interesting to see if you make William leave dru and be a vampire in sorrow for a hundred years alone...or does he give in and just accept that Dru is in his life now. The possibilities are endless here. I was really hoping to see something about Buffy here but i'll wait. So is this the last chapter of the past then? I mean or is there flashbacks? Once you go into the presend day stuff will you stay? I kind of want to see the evolution of Spike...well, your take on Spike and how if he never forgets Elizabeth OR just goes on killing and trying to forget. Update soon. PLEASE!!! This weekend or something? Can you give us a ballpark of when the last part will be?

Author's Response: Part Two will be exclusively in the past, no alternations between time periods. Part Three will be exclusively in the present day. I hope that clears things up? I'm very glad you like this story so well. I am going to try to update soon, but since I haven't even started on Chapter Twenty-nine yet, I can't say when it will be ready. I'm glad to hear you are anticipating it, though. Thanks so much for your feedback!

Oh, poor William, this will be so hard for him, and I see he still is William, in his entirety. Do wish you would get thru this part relatively quickly, becasue it can't lead to anything good - except part 3.

Author's Response: lol. I know it will be a bit hard, Cas. But I promise, this part is integral to the plot. And don't let the warnings fool you. This story is still a Spuffy romance...with or without Buffy's physical presence. Thanks for the review!
