Oh I think I remember Spike telling Dawn about a girl sitting in coals. Her eyes and her hair color saved her I guess.
But it almost seems as if Angelus had to save Spike; the fight with the slayer didn't went so well. Maybe too because she wasn't what he expected.
I thought when Angelus came he would take Dru with him. Didn't expect her to stay with Spike.

I love this fic, and as anxious as I am for Spike and Buffy to meet, I'm loving the backhistory.

I've been thinking alot about this story, and I've been curious as to whether or not you're just altering canon as seen on the show(Spike being turned because of Cecily), or if Buffy actually changed things when she went back in time, and how that would affect their new meeting.

As it is, I imagine(because it's fun to put forward conjectures) that when Spike *does* meet Buffy, he'll want to kill her even more because how *dare* she resemble his Elizabeth. I imagine that he fights her so hard, because the only other option is to take her in his arms and cry his eyes out. :)

I just want you to know that your story has defiintely inspired the creative side of my brain. haha

Assuming that this follows the same timeline, I can imagine that things remain the same between Buffy and Spike as they did in the show, and then when Willow's spell sends Buffy flying, a comment is made that she could have been sent to any place or any time, making the wheels of Spike's head spin. OR, he never even considers the possibility, and when Buffy comes back, she launches herself into his arms telling him that she had TOLD him not to go out after dark!

Okay, so you've been VERY inspirational. Of course, above all, I picture you coming up with something that will positively blow me away and be better than anything I could imagine. :)

An immense chapter - in that you give us all facets of the Spike of that time. In sobering fashion, we read of his horrific exploits with Drusilla but almost in the same sentence he comes across a little girl - and there. There he is. The Spike/William of much later. Even then, his hesitation, his forewarning the child to Drusilla's dangerous proximity, it cries out that there are vestiges of humanity in William the Bloody, still.
He finds the Slayer - not the eye-catching tasty morsel he had hoped for and then the bitterest of ironies: Angelus saves him from the Dutch Slayer's stake and claims her death for himself. Then, he knocks Spike unconscious, stakes him for the sun to catch him, undoes Spike's trousers ...... and, well, the inference is more of the same of Angelus's party-piece. Still, this time, although Drusilla 'plays' with her Sire, she still opts to save and stay with Spike. At the moment they are very much a couple and reliant upon each other for comfort, companionship and support. But it is that tiny part of William still clinging on to Spike's dark heart, that makes your account of his formative vampire years so credible and compelling. I loved this chapter.

I don't like Angelus!!! Can't wait for more!!!

Thank goodness you updated. I started to worry. But you haven't disappointed, although I was sad that Angelus had to save Spike. What can ya do though? Love how he just started to walk away after the whole thing. That's our Spike. And it looks like he's also made a smart decision...for the time being.
