Spike is an "EVIL sentient being" - in Season 4 he is evil and still wants to kill Buffy. That is also how the beginning of this story portrayed his character, therefore I understand and support Buffy's actions. What I do not support is the stupidity of Giles in this story and the fact that all of this is really HIS fault (and Anya's for suggesting the sexual aspect of this ritual), not Buffy's. They both encouraged her. So this just isn't Buffy's fault. Sorry. She's in pain. Spike went through a lot, but so did Buffy. I can't wait for the pussy to snap out of it and realize that fault lies with the others (I'm angry with Spike right now, but to be fair, I know reguardless of whether or not he realizes Buffy is not at fault, he still equates her physical being with his torture...it will take a while...but he should really be livid with Giles and Anya). Buffy needs him too and I just WISH that her freakin' mother and sister would realize this and tell Spike so. Sure, Buffy went through with this, but at the advisement of Giles who is there to guide, train, and support her.

But poor Buffy and Spike. I'm glad not everyone has forgotten that buffy was a victim in this too...

I think this story is a little too hard on buffy. I know what Spike live is horrible but he has live almost two hundred years with Drusciila and partly with Angelus, I think he knows a little too much about torture and I think is going to be more easy for him to be over this. Buffy is having a bad time too andI think is time that she start thinking about herself. I love the story but I have to say: Dawn is sooooooooooooo annoying (I never really like her). Keep going!

Your characters are dead-on accurate here. I love that Dawn always *sees* Spike. I love that Joyce is using her maternal instincts with everybody. I love seeing Ripper.

I still can't feel sympathy for Buffy, and here's why: she's a victim of her own arrogance and stupidity, not the situation. What she did, when you really consider what she was going to constrain a *sentient being* to, was hideous. She made her big ugly bed, and now she must lie in it. There are no quick solutions, no pretending life goes back to normal, because for Spike, it will never be how it was again.

Honestly, I don't think she's ready for a relationship with him, at this age. What he's just gone through will have aged him several years in his own mind, and she's still thinking like an 18-year-old. This is early enough in Season 4 that she hasn't even turned 19 yet! She's practically still a child! Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Spike go away for a while to heal. How can he possibly leave the memories behind when his "torturer" is still in front of him every day?
Anyone who's gone through that kind of trama knows you never see that person, that image, the same again. It haunts you long after your abuser is dead.

aaarrrgghhh!!!! when are they gonna get through this?! spike is hurt, yes, but so is buffy. why cant they all just live happily ever after? *wine* sigh... i know, wishfull thinking. nothing is ever that easy. the chapter was great, as always, just wanted a bit more *grin*. i can admit it, i'm a sucker for angst and depressive stories. keep up the good work!

So that is the reason.. after all what they were going through, now Spike has problems seeing Buffy as Buffy and not as his torturer? He didn't have before... not in that way. ~ Joyce is right; Willow's last spell cost a lot of pain. Even if the claim forward a lot of their feelings, Spike forgets that he needs to speak too. Buffy doesn't exactly know how he feels or how bad he feels. ~ Looking forward to the next chapter; hopefully it will get better soon.

I know it's been a very traumatic experience for Spike, but doesn't he realize that Buffy has also been through it as well. She had to sit back while her mate is tortured by her own body and she couldn't do anything about. Then she had to watch him drain the blood out of her. That has to be traumatic too. Just like Spike has to deal with some stuff so will Buffy.

I feel Spike's kinda acting like a jerk. I know he's been through a lot but so has Buffy. Poor girl. I hope she doesn't break down or shut people out as a result. Spike seems to have Dawn, who does Buffy have? Because the slayer demon had her body, everybody feels as if Buffy was the one actually doing it.

And then Willow. I hope she gets punished in some way. I always thought she meddled in magic too much in the wrong way. What exactly did she do to the spell? What went wrong? Update soon please!

I'm glad to see (I hoped for) that the chips doesn't longer function. But how will Buffy take it? Spike doesn't need the chip; he is bound to Buffy now and in a way she is his chip. Oh.. and there I thought that they couldn't trust Travers and it did indeed not taken long for him to try to kill Buffy. Thanks to Spike he couldn't.
I wonder why Spike is reacting the way he is; because he fears Buffy's reaction to the kill? A lot has happened to them both so far. Looking forward to understand better in the next part.

Come on Buffy, stiff upper lip and all that! Think about all that Spike has been through at "your" hands recently and he's been forced to beat the body of the woman he loves to a bloody pulp. You were in his head for a while, you know what it cost him to do what he had to do (and let's not even go to the sex with the she-bitch party which was so disgusting to him). It's not just your touch right now, I'll bet he's not feeling too best-buds with himself either - he just almost killed someone in front of you via the neck nibble (points for not killing him even after Buffy said it was OK). He's feeling like a slut and a bastard and a bad mate all at the same time - He shot Travers and is probably wondering how Buffy is going to react to that later, and he's probably still wondering about Joyce and the niblet, so cut the guy some slack. This has been going on for him for weeks and you've just been back in your bod for a couple hours (sans ESDB). I think everyone could use a bit of space right now. He's Spike, dig into your memory of him and your experience inside his head and know that he'll be back to loving you proper in no time. Great Chap - well, any time you kill off Travers, Its great! And I love that Buffy got to beat the crap outta him first! I thought Joyce or Giles shot him at first. More please cause I need some really sweet spuffy loving to wipe the taste of the ESDB outta my mouth (oooh, maybe I'll go have a cookie!) more please.

Such an emotional roller coaster of a day-- I hope Spike can calm the internal storm without pushing Buffy too far away. She was inside of him, and now to feel so shut out, even when she understands why, must be difficult for the character. A great chapter.
