Glad to see you updated :) Looking forward to read more of Meret. So she'll get so big? I'm glad the Spike has her (the link). It does him good. And Spike tries to help Buffy with the money he earned. Seems as if nobody else is capable to do it - good friends Buffy has. Looking forward to read more of this - so I'm glad you'll update again.
Author's Response: Making Buffy run the Revello Bed and Breakfast in season six was really inconsiderate wasn't it? Glad you're still enjoying this. Thanks for reviewing!

Just got the latest chapter (5?) and decided to chip in with some more encouragement. This story is just getting better and better. In my last review I mentioned how I love the way you write conversations. Well the Spike and Giles one in this chapter is pretty close to perfection. The whole melodrama of the silent, mutual annoyance club thing they have going was laugh out loud delightful and the subsequent two actual conversations were handsomely paced and rang true to character with no preaching. Good Stuff!
Meret though is a joy. Scared of snakes or not I love her. I can't help but feel more hopeful about the way the season might go with Spike having a certain knowledge that he is loved by *something*. Might make him a bit less insecure I hope. I'm glad he made her a nice silky bed too. Suggles!
Author's Response: I'm glad you're still liking Meret! A great deal of this story had to do with me wanting season 6 to have been a bit less of an angst fest, but that's just me. Thanks for reviewing!

Wow, Meret's going to get big!
Poor Spike, he really does try. Geez, I never got why Willow and Tara never chipped in with rent. They knew how hard things were for Buffy, how broke she was. She had to carry that whole household on part time at the Doublemeat. It was beyond ridiculous. And unfair. Dawn was old enough to get a part time job, too. You can do that at 15, and the responsibility would have been good for her. She had too much free time to get in to trouble.
Author's Response: I spent most of season 6 wanting to slap each member of the Scoobies silly in turns, especially when it came to the whole money issue. I really hope it was simply an oversight on Joss and co.'s part, because if it wasn't the whole "We spent all of Joyce's life insurance money and you didn't leave a policy so we brought you back from the dead to pay the bills" vibe I was getting was absolutely intentional. Grr. Thanks for reviewing!

This is turning out to be one of my favorite stories ever. The characterizations are so dead on, and not just Spike, every one is just perfect in their role. Spike was so him when he gave the money he'd made to Giles and I loved that he added that he'd key his car if he pocketed any of it. Can't wait for more!
Author's Response: I'm relieved that people are liking my take on the Scoobies as well because they show up more and more as the story progresses. Thanks for reviewing!

Fun story..I like all the Spike thoughts. He has something to lavish his love and attntion on. It shows a much softer side to the Big Bad., Enjoy the talk with Dawn, too.
Author's Response: I always wished that the show had gone more in depth into Spike's relationship with Dawn, but I guess that soft side wasn't something they were interested in exploring much. Oh well. I'm glad you're enjoying this take on him though. Thanks for reviewing!

Okay, you do realize you've made me fall in love with Spike all over again? 'Cause him being so cute with Meret is just...delicious and lovely and everything! I cannot wait for Buffy's reaction to the coatl and the coatl's reaction to Buffy! And also, the reaction to the Scoobies, especially Xander who deserves to be bitten! Can't wait for the next update!
Author's Response: I think quite a few of the characters needed a good biting in season 6, especially Xander. :-) Thanks for commenting!

I like the idea of this story very much and It is also good to read so bonus.A female companion for Spike that will love him just for himself is always good news .
Author's Response: I'm glad you're enjoying the story, and Meret, so much. Thanks for reviewing!

Well, it's official. I love you madly. It's hard to believe this is your first foray into fic. You have total control over this story, and it's completely marvelous. It does my fanish heart good to see a new writer bring such life and talent to the 'verse.
Author's Response: My beta is currently beating me over the head for being so nervous about posting. I'm still pretty blown away that people are liking the story. Thanks for commenting!

Author's Response: Hmm... :-D Thanks for reviewing!

More goodness! That was very sweet.
Spike would definitely have to be careful about Meret sharing emotions, though if she spread the warmth and happiness to Buffy, it might help her out at this time.
Author's Response: Thanks! I'm going to have to back away from that last sentence for the time being. :-)

I LOVE this! Love it!!
Spike has his own little daemon to play with! (You can tell I've read too much Phillip Pullman, can't you?)
And finally one that likes him best! An entirely separate being from outside Buffy's little circle of meanness. Yay!
Author's Response: I'm going to bet that you liked Clem. I'm glad you're enjoying the story. Thanks for reviewing!

Yay! Thank you for updating so soon, for another wonderful chapter and for making even clearer everything about Meret and her bond with Spike. I adore the way you're writing Spike, i think you have an amazing insight into him, this is one of the best characterizations of him that I've read. Can't wait for more!
Author's Response: I'm glad that you like my take on Spike. It was something I worried about before posting, especially after I tossed in so many quirks and background stories. Thanks for reviewing!

Date: 11/23/2005 - 10:28 am Title: Care and Feeding
Wow - the link will extend? Good to hear that Meret will stay alive as long Spike stays un-dead :) Looking forward how the bonding will affect the Scoobies. Looking especially forward to Buffy meeting Meret. With Spike's feeling for Buffy I'm sure that will get interesting - sooner or later. And a new bed for Merit too? *smile* It so good seeing the two together. (I like Merit).
Author's Response: I couldn't kill her off if he's immortal! I'm not THAT mean. Glad you're liking her. Thanks for reviewing!

Nice chapter now we got some background on the little one.
Author's Response: Thanks for the review!

I suddenly get the Anne McCaffrey reference!
Really enjoying Meret. Love Spike finally finding a purpose for his (un)life; even if it is snake sitting. The details from the beasiary are well thought out ; nice touch. I like the african coatls having leathery skin for example. It makes your version of the Buffy-verse much more three dimensional to have it follow natural laws.
And I always love a good Spike/Dawn conspiracy. So glad I checked for an update while drinking my morning coffee!
Author's Response: I'm a paleontologist-in-training, so I tend to obsess over those kinds of details. I'm glad you liked them. Thanks for commenting!

Hoorah! *does happy nekkid baby dance, making Spouse splutter his wine all over desktop* So Meret will have some empathic link with Spike's covey *wiggles eyebrows, further frightening Spouse*. Oh I do hope this means we have a matchmaking coatl. Spike's already taking care of his little charge. All that brusqueness when talking with Tara... he's a sucker for a woman in need, isn't he.
I wonder though, just how far do the imprinted feelings and thoughts of Meret influence Spike? Would he be aware that he was being 'manipulated', albeit innocently? Things are looking verrry interesting.
Lovely update. Thank you.
Author's Response: Spike does have a weak spot for the ladies doesn't he? I hope the spouse wasn't too traumatized by your antics. ;-) Thanks for reviewing!
