I like your story so far - but it's good to know we'll see more of Buffy later. I would miss it I must say. :) And good to see too that Spike noticed the danger for Meret too. So Spike beat the demons - but who is the last one standing? At last he know how to keep dry feet standing in water. But I'm glad Spike could escape the Mage and making it to Giles. *gg* And it seems too that Giles is now in the secret - Meret is there :-D

Love the story, good chapter I'm curious about what the human wants with Spike and Meret.....or maybe it's just Meret he's really after.
I don't mind it being Spike centric, I find that it can be interesting to not have it all revolve around Spuffy stuff.

The rating seems appropriate to me, if that’s what you’re worried about.
Personally I’m not concerned that this isn’t a Spuffy-centric fic. There are plenty of those already out there! I tend to agree that both our heroes need to mature for them to have a healthy relationship, and I’ve appreciated the direction you seem to be heading in this story. I will admit to anticipating seeing you develop a relationship between Spike and Buffy, but I’m happy to see you do it when it fits your story!
And poor, poor Spike! Though after his trek through the sewers I’d toss him in the shower too!

Very interesting; I assume the robed figures are there for Meret?
Also enjoying the direction you've taken Spike's relationship with Buffy. I have to admit that I always liked the big "Once more with feeling" kiss, but I can see where it might be construed as heading their relationship in an unhealthy direction-- Spike's desperation for her acknowledgment, Buffy's feeling that she's betraying her friends by kissing him, etc. I’m looking forward to seeing if you handle things differently!
Also curious to find out what’s up w/ Giles!

Wow, I don't think I've ever encountered this as a money-making endevor for Spike before! Kudos! Everyone goes the 'poker-pool-sort of legitimate job as a bouncer' way.
I'm loving this and I can't wait for the rest of the gang to meet Meret, but I'm also enjoying that she's still sort of Spike's private friend.
Author's Response: A thought it was kind of funny that Spike had all of these treasure hunting adventures - the de Lac cross, the gem of Amarrah - but couldn't figure out how to make more money on the show outside of poker and blackmail. Silly vampire. :-) Thanks for the review!

This story is very entertaining and well detailed. I'm especially enjoying the relationship between Spike and Meret. Meret is coming off as more a friend than a pet, and her empathic abilities are a grounding force for Spike. Spike's quest for money is also an intriguing plot device, and I love the attention to detail you're putting into his endeavors. Spike's fiscal relationship with The Magic Box makes sense and is also well handled. The dialogue is in character and the entire story is moving quickly without being rushed. I'm looking forward to more.

I just love this story so much. The relationship between Spike and Meret is priceless. In fact, the way the relationship between Giles and Spike and Anya and Tara is so interesting that I haven't even missed Buffy. I mean of course Spike is doing all this is being done for Buffy. I don't miss her rejecting him. Now you're turning evil with the butterfly nets. We all know what that means. Please don't let anything happen to meret. She's just too cute for words. I'll stop babbling now.

Great story. I am however missing the friendship Spike seemed to have with Buffy before they first kissed. In fact I miss any interaction with Buffy since there don't seem to be any at this point.

So glad Giles found a way to tie Spike into the Magic Box and to Buffy. Sure Anya will settle down and realise she's just tied her most valuable supplier to her. Hope Buffy's going to come along and help Spike and meret out soon... Great update!
