How sad and devastating for Spike to learn the extent of Giles' bigotry. In contrast, yay for Tara's sensitivity. Love the story.

Oh man! Poor Spike. Great chapter; looking forward to the next.

Author's Response: I always hated seeing Spike get knocked around physically and emotionally on the show, and here I am writing about it. I'm such a hypocrite. Thanks for reviewing!

I just found your fic and read to here in one sitting. It is awesome; it is hard to believe that this is your first fic. Both your dialogue and the subtle way you portray the character's emotions are amazing. BTW, you really don't need a Beta. I noticed very few mistakes, unless you are just looking for someone to bounce ideas off of. Great job so far. Can't wait to read the rest of it.

Author's Response: Thank you! My beta is going to be able to start proofreading again soon, and mostly I'm just asking her to make sure that I don't have any glaring plot holes and typos. I'm glad you're liking my writing style. My only writing background is in scientific journals and they aren't the most amusing things to read.

Oh, poor Spike, I feel so bad for him. You had me in tears at the end of the chapter. Really well written, I could feel the depth of the emotions he must have been feeling. Can't wait for more.

Author's Response: Um, sorry? :-) I'm glad you're enjoying this so much. Thanks!

Snowed in? The rest of our snow thawed today. ~ So Giles didn't believe Spike at first.. yeah. Typical Watcher / Vamp thing or more a Giles thing? ~ Good that Tara did care for Spike's wounds - the little magic did sure help - this the extra 'icepack' for sure. *gg* because of what Spike did to Riley's pants :) Well - Giles IS a typical Watcher.. Vamps have no feelings, uh-huh. What an idiot.

Loved to read the new update :)

Author's Response: Even though is a bit of a rebel, Giles is still a product of the Watcher's Council. Oh well. Thanks for reviewing! (Oh, and it's still snowing!)

Giles could be such an ass at times. He needed to come face to face with his illusions and prejudices, nearly as much as Xander did.

Author's Response: I always hate it when someone knows that their beliefs are true. I don't play well with blindly unquestioning individuals. That is why Giles irks me, even though I think he means well. Thanks for leaving a comment!

This story is great.I like the way that Spike is connecting with the fringe scoobies. And perhaps Spike and Tara might become close.Or Meret lays eggs and both Tara and Dawn have a baby coatl each ?.Update soon please.

Author's Response: Tsk. Asking me questions that I simply refuse to answer. :-D I'm glad you're liking this fic. Thanks for reviewing!

Brilliant chapter loved it. Giles' is just pathetic. He prides himself on his intellect but like all true bigots he only sees what fits into his world view. Pretty much par for the course when dealing with him throughout season 6 & 7. He never gave Spike any credit for saving their arses when Buffy died. In truth Spikes to soft for his own good,

Author's Response: I think that pretty much everyone in season 6 deserved to be smacked for being selfish and short-sighted. (And yes, I never understood why Spike was so willing to lie down and let people kick him.) Thanks for reviewing!

Grrr Giles should be nicer to Spike after all he's done. I really like the interaction between Spike and Tara.

Author's Response: Hee hee. No killing Giles just yet! ;-) Thanks for reviewing!

After ripping a gaping hole in the seat of the camouflaged pants and “accidentally” dropping them into the toilet, Spike decided he felt up to facing the watcher again.

*LOL* Spike sure knows how to get a message across! I think camouflaged pants should actually read camouflage pants, or is that my Britishism?

Interesting chapter, this one. Although you've injected some really clever humour the undercurrent of threat and mistrust is palpable and I found myself uncomfortable laughing at the quippage when Spike was clearly in pain and there was so much mistrust and disbelief on Giles part. You made me conflicted, as you Yanks say.

Interesting that Giles calld the leader of the demons a warlock and Spike refers to him as a Mage. Is there any significance/difference?

Great update, pet! Thanks again.

Author's Response: Oops! No, that was a real, live typo. Thanks for pointing it out! As for my mystery villian, I'm using the words warlock, mage, and magic-user interchangeably. I'm actually rather pleased that Spike's quips made you uncomfortable. I saw his sarcasm on the show as a defense mechanism, a way to hide vulnerability, so I tried to use that humor the same way. Thanks for reviewing!

Memet should read Meret

Just one typo... "...mement..." should read moment. Apart from that, perfecto!

I wonder if that was the same Mage that lost to Spike in the Poker game? Hmmm? I wonder too, has Giles changed the shower curtain? Whose red eyes are those? Don't say Giles has corrupted Tara and they're both hitting the Scotch!

I'm loving this. Love that Spike has a friend in Memet. Love that you're taking time with the story. Hopefully, establishing some Scoobie relationships prior to their getting together will help Buffy overcome her misplaced shame at falling for Spike. He's already got Tara and Dawn on his side, if he and Memet can work on Giles that'll go a long way to easing things.

The fight in the sewers with the robed demons was fairly gruesome, but I think it was no more yucky than some of the scenes I've seen on the show. That's my opinion of course. I think the rule is to err on the side of caution.

Great update, pet. Thanks again!

Author's Response: Oops! All fixed now. (And why does the mental image of Tara sitting up with Giles, drinking Scotch, make me want to giggle?) Thanks for the proofread and the review!

Yay! New chappie! I get so excited when I see this story on the Recently Added page. Happy belated Birthday, BTW!

I'm glad you put the 'worried' bit in for Giles. So many fic authors villianize him, I like Giles, despite the evil thing he did in Season Seven. (Of course, as pretty much everyone was out of character in Season Seven, maybe we can't blame him.)

Oh, pure Spike! I'm glad Meret got away. I'm eager to see Giles reaction to Meret!

Author's Response: I never pegged Giles for a villian. Stuck on his Watcher training? Yes. Saddled with a father's overprotectiveness? Definitely. Evil? Not so much. I'm glad you're liking the fic so much! Thanks for the review and the birthday well-wishing!

I think that this fic being more Spike focused is a refreshing change, as so often the story revolves around Buffy. I'm really enjoying this fic and always look out for it. Kepp it coming.
