Ooooo what a great start you've made. This is a premise that I've seen used in post-Chosen fic before and I don't know that it's always done well. Where this piece stands out thus far is in the way you've managed to make the characters' actions ring true to what we knew of each of them from BTVS/AtS. Buffy martyring herself in the Hellmouth by simply TAKING the amulet from Spike is a perfect example. While again highligting Buffy's 'I am the Law' attitude, it also took the edge off of what could have been a potentially over-dramatic or downright schmaltzy moment. Further I thought you played out Buffy's reconstitution in Angel's office nicely, allowing Fred's doubt to surface, Angel's frustration to get the better of him, and having Buffy remain mute - her physical, mental and emotional state however speaking volumes as to her likely whereabouts while supposedly 'dead'. It'll be interesting to see where you take this. Update soon!
