Buffy and Spike are married with children. Spike has an affair and tells Buffy he wants to leave her for the other woman. He regrets it really soon and wants her back but she is to hurt and they get divorced. Than a while later she tells him to come home.

I think the story is called You Were Mine by Jake but I've looked for it and can't find it. If you know the story can you also please include a link.

I love the setup of the story, he cheats, leaves, and and than is heartbroken and groveling. if you know any similar ones that aren't to mushy and unbelievable please tell me.

I can't find the story by Jake. But here is an all human story that I like that does have a cheating Spike who has to try to get Buffy to take him back again.

Guest -- Is that the one where he cheats with Harmony (who I think was Buffy's friend) he moves in with her or something and he and Buffy do divorce. I think it was only like 3 or 4 chapters and the last chapter has her driving the kids to him to drop them off for the weekend and her asking him to come home.

If so I know I read the story on here -- maybe that will help someone find it.

I'll cross my fingers for you to find that one. I'd love to read it! To bad usually one that caught my interest end up in cold case section.

I remeber someone saying that Jake took that story down. That Jake did not like it.

Okay, what search criteria did you use to find this story today? Because I tried several different ones and did not find any reference to this specific story. If the requester doesn't know the name of the story or the author then all they have is their search criteria. This doesn't always come up with the right story, as mine did not just now.

It's easy to criticize (and for a lot of rec request searches it does get repetitive) but when trying to find a specific story with only so much info to start with it gets a lot harder to to use search to find things.

Just sayin'.

A better response, gopher101, would've have been to direct the requester to the initial post instead of being insulting. I imagine it took a lot more time complaining than it would have if you had just shrugged and moved on. Of course, with all due respect, we all have our own idea of what wasting time is.

Flaming searches discourages other people from wanting to post their inquiries, as they might feel they aren't as astute of a searcher as you are. We all try to be helpful, even on multiple searches, and as for myself - sometimes I appreciate them because it reminds me of a fic I may have forgotten.

If not, I silently move on without lingering feelings of being inconvenienced.
