It's completely in character for even drug-real to struggle in loosening William's reticence. Bit if anyone can do it, Buffy can.

She shrugged. “I’m a woman who’s used to it.” -- Love the tentative relationship between them. Very interesting. Still wondering why she's there. Wondering how she's there. Looking forward to it.

ah, I see where this is going. from her first appearance I thought it would be Dru. Poor William, with the laudium, but it's probably for the best to losen him up. "m enjoying the banter.

Author's Response: The banter was fun to write, so I'm glad you're enjoying reading it. Thanks for the review. :)

I absolutely love everything I've read here so far. Your writing is wonderful and William's emotions are clear and poignant.

I like how you aren't relying on any of the common stereotypes that have developed about him, making him too bumbling or too shy or too eager to please or overly down on himself. This fresh look at him makes the quiet pain even more clear, and makes us wonder a lot more about what could happen next with his interactions with Buffy. I really get the feeling that Buffy has been through her own pain, too, and I love your hints of it through what she's said.

Absolutely love this, and now a strong follower.

Author's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review. I'm so happy you're enjoying the characterization of William. I was a little worried people wouldn't like him because, as you said, I'm not following the usual stereotypes. I did that to some degree in "Forward to Time Past" and I had a lot of fun with it, but for this story I wanted to explore a different side of his character, one that's less ... wholesome. Not that this version is a bad person; he's just had different experiences.
