Wow, I REALLY DON'T LIKE Spike right now. He's putting her through so much. I'm actually wishing she would quit. I'm even wishing she would go off with Angel and I usually don't wish that. I'm even hoping Buffy finds someone new. Spike's being such a LOSER and JERK!!!
But...if Spike were to somehow stop being a loser and jerk and want Buffy back and divorcing Dru, then I guess I can forgive him. But until then, I'll be disliking him for a while.
Great chapter! I'm glad Buffy has Angel with her right now.

I think having someone from her old life who believes in her was necessary, and maybe she could absorb a little healing from the fact that Angel isn't quite the evil ex she's made him to be in her head. I understand how you feel that way about Spike. I think he's kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place, and he's not acting his best.

Well I don't say this very often and usually only under EXTREME duress but...yaay Angel. Buffy could probably do with a little time and space outside of the web she's living in with Spike & Dru. And while Angel's sanctimonious 'I did it for your own good but will always love you' argument always struck me as a bit of a cop out, I still hope spending time with him will help Buffy resolve some of her issues around her self-concept. Maybe then she'll be able to look at the situation she's found herself in with Spike with fresh eyes - and see the train-wreck I do. *sends a prayer to whatever deity may be listening* Another marvelous instalment!
Author's Response: LOL to extreme duress and yay angel! I like the role he's playing here. I think sometimes only one of your exes can fully be effective in pointing out to you something wrong in your romantic life. Angel is a little sanctimonious, you're right, and I think that speech is a total cop-out in real life as well (and yes, I've gotten it myself...and I was too young to say, woah dude, you're full of shit!) *but* I think Angel really believes it (as he did canonically) and he cares about her, so maybe he'll be good medicine.
then again, maybe not. we'll just have to see. there's an angst warning on this puppy for a reason and I am apparently discovering that I am a sadist. lol. who knew?

Was out for a bit and just got back to this story. AMAZING! I can't believe that she didn't even try to play it off our anything. Also, WAY TO BE with the whole, "your impresssion sucks" bit. The whole thing is going to end in heartbreak. Heck, at this point, maybe the baby isn't even Spike's!

Heh. Oh come on, you know why people are asking if you're going to kill off Dru in this fic. She's getting in the way of undivided Spuffiness. I'm both a S/b and S/Dr shipper, so this fic kind is of easy breezy for me.
While everyone's being at mad Spike, I actually feel sorry for both him and Buffy. He has a family that he loves. I would think him a bigger ass if he had lead her on just to spare her.
I know Buffy and Spike are too blind to see the tranwreck ahead, but Drusilla, she's kind of the objective party in this pseudo-triangle. After Spike presumably admitted to her that he might be getting emotionally involved with Buffy, doesn't she see the writing on the wall? I mean, it's kind of obvious.
Still loving this fic. And you can count on me following it, wherever you plan on taking this story. :)

I think she does. But she kinda saw it coming before either Spike or Buffy did, because she knows that her husband is a sucker for the girl in distress. thus the wounded bird comment of...err, chapter 6, maybe? but I think she also knows how loyal he is, and I'm not sure she really has many doubts about who he's going home with, so to speak. at least, that's what I took her lack of concern in ch 6 to mean (see, I don't write this story, I just listen in *g*)

Ok...You caught me..I tune it every chapter..and I say to myself. " I'm gonna pretend I didn't read that" .... Not reviewing every chapter is my own silent protest to the Spike/Dru ..Can't help it..(shrugging sholders) BUT...How can one not enjoy the Spuffy sex? Just so you know..You are a great writer ; )

I totally get that, since I know this isn't the usual type of fare for this site, but I'm glad people are reading and enjoying it anyway. you're certainly entitled to your silent protest :) I do that too, when I'm unsure of how I feel about a fic. if it's well-written, I keep reading in hopes of making up my mind or having it changed, so I think it's cool to know that you're still reading despite your reservations. I really like to hear what's on people's minds, if it's told respectfully, so I'll encourage you to keep doing your nelson mandella vigil, but maybe check in every once in a while? :) thanks for the compliment to my writing. when I get this wrapped, I have plans to do a canony funny spuffy ficlet series, because I need an antidote to the angst of this one. *g*

That actually brought tears to my eyes and I'm at work! Thank God nobody's in the office or they would think I was absolutely nuts. This chapter was so heartbreakings. There relationship was like a dam ready to break since the start and boy does the damage look bad! I like how I can't see the exact path of this story. Because Drusilla is still such a positive force in his life it's so hard to see what will happen. I can't wait for the next chapter! Loving this story. :-)

I've been getting this a lot, and I think it's effective, because I think at this point, Spike and Buffy can't see the path either. I'm glad you're enjoying that aspect rather than feeling frustrated with it.
also glad that you see/feel that Dru is a positive force in his life. that's pretty much how I intended it, at least that *he* really honestly believes that she is. I've gotten a little guff for that, but I think it makes things more messy, like real life is apt to be.
