No. I don't hat you, but I hate crying. You made me cry so much. You wanted to move us and you did. Thank you for the story.

This broke my heart, but I realized from the start that it could not have a happy ending. Sometimes things are just too fucked up to fix, you know?
Good story; sad, terribly sad but a good story all the same.

As the writer, you have to stay true to your idea and your heart of the story. And as a reader of said story, I have to stay true to my reactions to the story. I loved following Buffy gain her strength in herself back with Spike's help. That scene where she simply forgets that she's wearing a sundress is wonderful to me. I loved seeing this.

And I must say that i found this ending to be a cop-out. I felt it went against the character we'd bene following who was changing, not FOR Spike, but for herself, was gaining strength in herself without depending on anyone. I didn't need Buffy to trot off into the sunset with Spike, but the Buffy i was watching grow and change was not the one in this chapter. This Buffy was following a storyline that she had grown out of and I feel mislead now. And it's unfortunate because i found this story so compelling, so well-written, and so true to form. And it feels a bit sad that this ending has ruined all of that.

Well, Damn. I was not expecting that. I am glad you stayed true to your story. I think writers often tell a better story when they do that instead of trying to give people what they want. It was certainly a good read, even thought it ended on a sad note.

What a ballsy ending! While heart-breaking it stayed true to the overall tone of the piece and I commend you for having the conviction to follow it through. The tragedy of this ending also makes the (numerous) moments of life and warmth in the story (e.g. that 'beauty-of-us' thing or pick almost any interaction with Jeremiah) even more poignant by contrast. A thoroughly fascinating character study from beginning to end. Well done!

I absolutely love this story and am sad to see it go. I always knew in the back of my mind it wasn't going to end happy. I loved how Spike showed up to try to stop her and I kind of wish he could have turned her, though I know she would have hated that. I wish he said he loved her before she died - I think he did, but maybe not. Anyway, wonderful job writing it and I hope to see another story from you again in the future.

I DIDNT REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED AT THE ENDING...DID SHE DIE OR DID HE TURN HER? IS THIS THE END OF THE STORY OR WILL THERE BE A SEQUEL ?

The ambush was deftly written and vivid, setting the stage for the quieter confrontation with Buffy. Buffy's reaction to Spike's admission was gut wrenching. Only one more chapter to go? I'm looking forward to however you resolve this.

Buffy having the strength to stand up to everybody was lovely to read. I hope she's not too devastated to find her trust in Spike has been misplaced.

I don't know how I got so behind on this story, but I'm glad to have found it again. Buffy's quiet musing was lovely. This chapter conveyed a feeling of healing throughout, and I loved the cliffhanger.

Oh no! I hope that Spike gets to explain so it doesn't seem quite as horrible. I think it is kinda funny that Xander and Giles think that Spike is the epitome of evil and still thought they could kill him with some holy water and a crossbow. Can't wait for the next (and hopefully not last) chapter.

Next chapter will probably be the last? Then I hope it will be a happy end :) ~ Oh no... Giles and Xander got Spike! And Giles didn't believe that Spike changed Buffy. At last Spike told Buffy that he is still killing but now she run away. So what now? Looking forward to the next part! I want to know what happens next even if the next part is the last.

Very powerful last scene, ably set up by Spike's encounter with Giles and Xander. Here is a vampire who is shot through twice and burned with holy water and yet his barbs about sex with Buffy are tame by Spike standards; he saves his vitriol for the men and their own moral ineptitude with Buffy's suffering.

So when a slip of a girl comes wafting down the street, all barefoot and somewhat subdued, we see the meeting of caught-out lovers, both after having dealt with the scathing words of others - and now each other's silent port in the storm. Girl and boy, not slayer and vampire. Until the vampire confesses. He sees the purity of the girl and cannot sully it any more with his lies. Like the holy water, it stings: it does not cleanse. She reacts, sharply but no words. Damning silence. A scene of two people in one place, under the spotlight of a streetlamp in a deserted road with few words and economic action. A scene of great strides, where everything has changed.

Loved it.

This story is probably closer than most to canon Spike pre-soul. Even with his chip he never denied that his predeliction for killing and human blood was still there, it was just the Slayer and those she held dear that he put on his list of 'must not kills'.

I hate that this is angsty, because I always crave a happy ending, but conversely I think that this fic is all the better for sticking close to the truth that was Spike.

Fantastic work, pet.
